Asparagus contains a specific mix of amino acids that have been shown to alleviate symptoms of a hangover by helping the liver process alcohol. Kale is high in potassium, which helps the body’s electrolytes get back into balance. Carrots provide beta carotene and antioxidants to help liver cells function optimally. You could try using beets in place of carrots in this smoothie recipe for the same effect. Garlic has a liver cleansing effect. Milk thistle has long been known to the herbal community as a liver cleanser, and it may also help keep blood sugar balanced.
